2007 / workshops

At both festival locations we will organize a large number of workshops suitable for different age groups. Moreover, adults are even admitted to some sessions. We will cooperate with the best art education organizations of Belgium.

Studio Jekino
Like the last few years, we organise in cooperation with Rataplan the four-day workshop Studio Jekino movie making.

Make your own flipbook
Ages 8-12
Leafing through a flipbook gives you the impression that you are watching a movie! Images come alive with a flowing motion. During this workshop, you invent a story and you create the appropriate images which will be collected in a real flipbook. Are you going to create an exciting crime story or a romantic fairy tale? It all depends on you.

A play of shadow and light
4 – 5 jaar
Shadows of simple shapes and objects can become strange creatures…. Through playing with shapes and light, through dancing and singing, we discover the strangest things – and not only on paper but also with a projector. We even experiment with a video camera. Let odd creatures give you the creeps and make yourself grow very quickly and become the greatest giant!

Silence on the set…
9 - 12 jaar
..the director says when he wants to shoot a scene. We are going to film a mini screenplay and you will be the star! We give you the opportunity to work at the make-up or sound department or to be a claploader and shout “silence! Take 1”. In short, become acquainted with all the activities on a set! After the workshop, you receive a dvd with the shooted scenes. We also screen these scenes in the festival tent on the last day of the festival!

Create your own animation movie!
10 – 12 jaar
For two days, our workshop-classroom is turned into a film studio! You get the opportunity to write a mini screenplay, to draw characters and sets on paper, to work with plasticine and all kinds of objects…Afterwards you shoot and edit your own movie! At the end of the second day, your movie is finished and will be screened before the closing film!

COMBINE FILM AND WORKSHOP

Regadering the film Red like the Sky
Mirco gives you a mike
Ages 9 – 11
We get our inspiration from the movie Red like the sky in which Mirco is the leading character. As a result of an accident, he becomes blind…
After the screening you receive the microphone to record sounds. You get the opportunity to create your own story with the help of a digital sound studio. On Wednesday at 11 AM, your parents are invited to listen to your sound story with their eyes closed!

Regarding the film Lotte from Gadgetville
Create an animation movie
For kids aged 5 and 6 accompanied by an adult!
All kinds of things (e.g feathers, glasses, jars…) create ‘effects’ in a movie and all of a sudden, these objects look like dogs doing the washing-up or a steam engine which allows you to make dinner, eat and wash your hair simultaneously…Get those cameras rolling, everything is possible in this animation movie!

Regarding the film Sven and the rat
Cartoon workshop: Look through the eyes of an animal!
Ages 6 - 8
With the help of a digital camera we look through the eyes of your favourite animal (or favourite monster). Show the crazy things they experience by creating your own cartoon with balloons…You can modify the images and put your name on them.

Regarding the film The beauty and the bastard
VJ 4 free
14+
DJs mix records, VJs mix images, connect sounds to images, manipulate effects,…
With the help of free software, a computer and a tv or a beamer, we create a simple VJ-setup which is easy to use. You not only learn how to work with simple software programmes but also learn how to create a setup which could be used as visual support at parties and concerts!

Film + workshop in EHA!

The EHA! welcomes the festival audience and invites you to enjoy a beautiful movie:
The Colour of Milk, a Norwegian movie by Torun Lian (2004, 93’). The film is about Selma, a 12-year-old girl who lives in the countryside ánd close to the seaside. Selma and her friends often go to the seaside by bike. The guys from the neighbourhood they meet over there are often stupid and foolish. Therefore, they make an agreement: they promise each other never to fall in love. But that is not as easy as it seems…The Colour of Milk is a movie with a lovely aura, wonderful colours and a beautiful scenery.

After the movie you get the opportunity to create your own film poster on handmade paper! Under professional guidance, you will learn how to manufacture paper according to traditional methods and you will create your own original poster with paper dolls.
